Midwestern Gothic – A Quarterly Literary Journal

I’m excited to announce a new project I’ve been tinkering with for quite some time: Midwestern Gothic. Midwestern Gothic is a quarterly literary journal dedicated to featuring work about or inspired by the Midwest, by writers who live or have lived here. Midwestern Gothic aims to collect the very best in Midwestern fiction writing in a way that has never been done before, cataloging the oeuvre of an often-overlooked region of the United States ripe with its own mythologies and tall tales.

Whew, a mouthful. A teaser site is now up (here), and the full site should be up sometime in early January. I’ll have a call for submissions around that time, and I expect the first issue to print in March 2011.

If you have any questions, send me a message. More details to come.

Short story collection ‘Mating Habits’ to be published in 2011

Exciting, exciting news. My short story collection The Mating Habits of College Girls & Other Stories is going to be published in the spring of 2011 by eight cuts gallery press.

eight cuts is a wonderful press based in Oxford, England that has so far this year put out two really great works. I cannot wait to be part of the family.

And, in the meantime, there’s a preview of one of the stories from the collection up at their site, called “Zombies.” Check it out here.

More details of the publication to come. Boom.
